Commissioner Daren Nigsarian has the experience to address these critical issues in the future:
  • Roads and Transportation
    • Our streets are in very poor condition. We must keep bad streets from failing completely and costing twice as much to repair. We must also bring mass-transit options into La Habra using OCTA funds.
  • The City Budget Crisis
    • We need new ideas for generating revenue, and experience in knowing when and where to cut.
  • Police and Fire Protection
    • Public safety is the first priority. We must solve police retention issues and increase patrol coverage. We must never reduce paramedic response capacity.
  • Redeveloping Downtown
    • Now is the time to rezone the La Habra Specific Plan for mixed-use redevelopment. New retail, restaurant and residential projects will bring sales and property tax dollars into La Habra .
  • Home Ownership
    • We must preserve homeowner property values and maintain a high quality-of-life for all residents. We are mandated to bring affordable housing to La Habra. Each project must be well-designed and located properly.

After serving nearly a quarter-century in law-enforcement, I will maintain and improve the level of police and fire services which is local government’s first priority.

My experience as Vice-Chairman of the 2005 Fiscal Review Committee uniquely qualifies me to preserve La Habra ’s public safety, roads and community services. My service on the Planning Commission and involvement with the Chamber of Commerce will enable me to bring new business and redevelopment to the downtown area.

I believe home ownership is the cornerstone of economic success and will preserve home values and provide opportunity for those living and working in La Habra . My volunteer efforts with local non-profits give me an added appreciation for the unique character of La Habra, and the people themselves. I am guided by the principle that the people come first.

Finally, I am committed to building a strong local economy, keep our budget balanced and continue repairing streets. As your Councilman, I will lead our community into a better and brighter future for those of us who work, live, and raise families in La Habra.
